Life Lesson From a Tomato Pie

On Saturday I attempted to make pizza on the charcoal grill using a pizza stone. It was made from scratch, using 00 flour and a recipe I found online. The goal was to make a fresh tomato pie. The pizza on the left was my first attempt. It was doughy and undercooked. In other words, a failure.

The pizza on the right is my second attempt. The crust was airy and soft with a nice char on the bottom. It was a good pie taste-wise. It could have been better-formed, and I would have liked the crust to have a little more color. But it was a really nice pie nonetheless.

Moral of the story: Your first attempt will never be your best. Don’t give up! The more you do something, the better you will get at it. You may not be perfect, and that’s OK, but you can get good at something.
